Cherrapunji Weather

A visit to Cherrapunji can be quite incomplete without experiencing the rain. Thus, the best time to visit Cherrapunji is between the months of October May. The downpours are not harsh in fact, they are very pleasant and hygienic. Temperature during this time ranges between 10 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius.  

Summer

The summer months in Cherrapunji are March, April and May. During these months, the maximum temperature one can expect is about 25 degrees Celsius. If it doesn’t rain and the skies are clear, then it becomes quite humid during the summers. May is the wettest summer month here.

Monsoon

It is all about perennial monsoons in Cherrapunji. However, the heavy downpours and continuous rainfall increases from June lasting till about September. During peak monsoons, it becomes extremely difficult to visit Cherrapunji. The month of June sees most rainfall. Temperatures drop down during the monsoons.

Winter

Accompanying the rain, Cherrapunji sees temperature dropping during the winter months. The months of November to February are quite cold with the temperatures dropping to as low as 5 degrees Celsius. However, the average temperature lingers around 15 degrees Celsius. With less rainfall, it is a good time to visit Cherrapunji.
