Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary, Bellary

The region of Bilikallu reserve forest was declared as Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary in 1994. The dry deciduous thorn forests and hillocks serve as the home to many sloth bears. It is because of the efforts of Karnataka Forest Department, this sanctuary was made an ideal place for the sustenance of sloth bears. Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary is around 20km from Hampi and is the only sloth bear sanctuary in Karnataka. It is located between Sandur and Hospet Taluks in Ballari or Bellary. Though the prime animals are sloth bears, we can also find monitor lizards, pangolins and spotted dears. There is also a watchtower from where sloth bears can be seen.
