Kamala Narayana Temple, Belgaum

Kamala Narayana is a breathtakingly beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Narayana at Degaon of Belgaum district. It is a 12th century temple built by the Kadamba Queen Kamaladevi, which is famous for its Kadamba style of architecture.

It is believed that the place got its name from the temple complex Devagrama, meaning a ‘village of God’! It has marvellous sculptures including lions and floral motifs.

The Kadamba style of architecture seems to have reached its pinnacle at this beautiful temple. This style of architecture has impressed the Hoysalas, who went on to built many monuments based on this model!
