The Kot Bagh Nizam is one of the major tourist sites in Ahmednagar. Renowned as the Garden of Victory, Kot Bagh Nizam was constructed by Ahmed Nizam Shah, who was also popular by the name of Malik Ahmed, in the year 1499.
He built this garden to mark his triumphant victory over the Bahamani King. Shah had laid the foundation of the city on the river banks of Sina in the year 1494, at the time when he shifted his kingdom base from Junnar to the city of Ahmednagar.
That is when he ravaged the Bahamani kingdom by seizing the Daulatabad Fort. The Nizam built a high wall all around the Bagh Nizam, which later became the noted Ahmednagar Fort.
