1. Kashi Vishwanatha Temple
Varanasi is one of the holiest cities located on the banks of river Ganga. The famous Kashi Vishwanatha Temple is one of the most prominent temples in Varanasi. This Jyotirlinga Temple is situated on the Western bank of Ganga River and it is near to Dashashwamedha Ghat in Varanasi.
2. Sringeri Sharadamba Temple
Sringeri is a popular temple town in Karnataka. It is known for Sringeri Sharadha Peetha which was established by Adi Shankaracharya. Interestingly, River Tunga flows right next to the temple and fishing is prohibited in this section of Tunga River. In fact, the fishes are fed by the pilgrims here.
3. Kalighat Kali Temple
Kalighat Kali Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kolkata. It is situated on the old course of Hooghly river. Over the time, the river has moved away but a canal flows near the temple. This canal of Hooghly river is named as Adi Ganga as it is considered to the original source of Hooghly river.

4. Tryambakeshwar Temple
The 13-storied structure of Trayambakeshwar or Triambakeshwara Temple is located near Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh. The bridge Lakshman Jhula is built over the River Ganges. This beautiful temple of Lord Shiva is one of the top temples on the banks of the rivers in India.

5. Srirangam Temple
Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple is considered as the Adya Ranga (last temple) among the Pancharanga Kshetrams in South India. Srirangam is located on an island of Kaveri River in Tamil Nadu.
6. Omkareshwar Temple
Omkareshwar Temple on the banks of river Narmada is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Omkareshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is located in Khandwa of Madhya Pradesh.
7. Nimishamba Temple
Nimishamba Temple is located at Ganjam of Srirangapatna. Here Goddess Nimishamba is the prime deity of the temple. This temple is situated on the banks of river Kaveri.
