Suryamal is a place in the Mokhada taluk in Thane, which is situated at a distance of 85 km from Nashik and 120 km from Mumbai. The hill station is located at an altitude of 1800 ft above sea level. The place is one amongst the less explored hill stations, even with its close proximity to Mumbai.
The place offers you trekking spots and also a perfect location to catch the mother nature at her best. The hillock offers you some breathtaking views of the lush green mountains and valleys. The place is a tribal village and is untouched by modernization, which gives you a picture of rural life and their culture.
Suryamal is the highest peak of the region; though small in size, it is a popular choice amongst those who wish to capture the breathtaking views which can be seen from the hilltop.

The place is a year around destination, however most them prefer to visit the place during the months starting from September to May as the weather remains comfortable during this time.
How To Reach Suryamal
By Air: The nearest major airport is the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, which is located at a distance of 90 km from here. The airport receives regular flights from across the major cities in the country and from a few abroad, as well.
By Train: The nearest major railway head is the Igatpuri Railway Station which is approximately at a distance of 39 km from here. The station receives trains from across the country. Once you alight the station, one can hire a taxi or auto and reach the place.

By Road: One of the best ways to reach Suryamal is by road, the place is well connected by roads and has regular buses which operate from Mumbai and other major cities in the state of Maharashtra.
Places To Visit In Suryamal
Most of the visitors to this hill station are predominantly trekkers, who are on the lookout for unexplored hills to conquer.Apart from the trekkers, the next group of people who come here the nature lovers. The place is often called as the paradise for trekkers as it offers a suitable hillock which can be scaled by anyone with ease.

At a short distance from here is the Amala Wildlife Sanctuary, the sanctuary is spread across a total area over 15 acres and is home to many rare varieties flora and fauna. The sanctuary lies on the Sahyadris. The wild boar, bison, hyenas, jackals, monkeys and deer are amongst the many found here; the sanctuary also has a large variety of birds.
Another place which witnesses a large footfall is the Deoband temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the temple is constructed on the banks of a river basin and located amidst the Sahyadri ranges, the temple offers enthralling views of the nearby mountains and is added on by the serene atmosphere of the area.

The place does not have much options for stay.One can stay at Igatpuri which has ample options for you to stay. The place also has small eateries, which serve you some yummy local cuisines.
The place is well-known amongst those who enjoy spicy food and fries. When in Maharashtra, never return without having the Vada Pav and relish on the local speciality of Misal, a spicy gravy made of potatoes.
