It

known
as
Dasaswamedh
Ghat
or
'Maha
Panchak'
as
it
is
the
place
where
Lord
Jagannath
was
worshipped
by
Asura
King
Bali
with
eight
different
queens.
The
temple
here
is
considered
to
be
one
of
the
oldest
temples
in
India.
This
temple
dates
back
to
the
10th
century
A.D.;
it
has
been
rebuilt
many
times
since
then.

here

Rath
Yatra
(chariot
procession)

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna had come to Puri after he was unable to return to Dwarka because of a storm. He stayed here for some time and then returned to Dwarka after some time. The Puri Jagannath Temple has been built on the site where Lord Krishna had stayed during his stay in Puri.
Attractions:
The main attraction of Puri Jagannath Temple is an annual Rath Yatra festival during which thousands of devotees throng Puri for this religious event, its architecture is considered one of the finest examples of ancient Indian architecture.
The temple also houses several other shrines including those dedicated to Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu, and Surya (the sun god). There are also Shrines dedicated to Parvati, Lakshmi, and Saraswati (goddesses).

By Air: There are direct flights from Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata to Bhubaneswar airport. From Bhubaneswar airport, you can take taxis or private vehicles to reach the temple which is 53 km away.
By Train: There are trains connecting Puri with most major cities in India including Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Lucknow.
By Bus: State-owned bus services are available for travel within Orissa state including Bhubaneswar city as well as Puri town itself where you can board buses bound for the temple complex itself.
