Five Popular Picnic Places of Karnataka

Karnataka is a state of India that has an array of charming picnic places for the tourists to visit. With it's rivers, gardens, theme parks and heritage sites, Karnataka is an ideal picnic spot for one and all.

BRINDAVAN GARDENS, MYSORE

Located near the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam which is across the River Kaveri, Brindavan Gardens is at the district of Mysore in Karnataka. With more than 2 million visitors frequenting the place throughout the year, the Brindavan Gardens is said to be one among the best picnic spots of Karnataka.

Created by Sir Mirza Ismail, a former minister of Mysore, the Brindavan Gardens is said to bear resemblances to the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir. This garden is built in Mughal style and includes beautiful orchards, fountains, terrace gardens, well-made lawns and more.

The Gardens also offers various shows to the visitors to entertain them to the maximum extent, such as the ‘dancing musical fountains', laser shows, decorative pools and so on. Also, this picnic place has an entrance fee and also offers boat rides.

NANDI HILLS, CHIKKABALLAPUR

Also renowned as the Nandidurg, Nandi hills is a popular picnic place of Karnataka. With it's ancient charm and peaceful atmosphere, Nandi Hills proves to be a favorite of many. Situated at Chikkaballapur District, at a distance of about 60 km from Bangalore City, Nandi Hills has a rich history which also includes temples.

The visitors can witness the structures built during the rule of King Tipu Sultan, the most important one being the ‘Tipu Drop'. One can also see an ancient horseway, The Nehru Nilaya, The Gandhi House and even a children's playground amongst other things. Additionally, this beautiful picnic destination also offers Paragliding for the visitors.

BANNERGHATTA NATIONAL PARK, BANGALORE

With it's rich wildlife resources and easy access, the Bannerghatta National Park is considered to be one of the top picnic places of Karnataka. Located at a distance of about 22 km away from Bangalore City, this National Park is an ideal visit for a weekend.

Along with a biological reserve which houses a host of different animal species, the Bannerghatta National Park also offers a Tiger & Lion Safari. Moreover, the National Park also includes a museum and a Butterfly Park.

BHEEMESHWARI, MANDYA  

Situated at a distance of about 100 km from Bangalore city, Bheemeshwari lies on the shores of River Kaveri. This serene picnic place is also one of the most beautiful picnic destinations of Karnataka which is favoured by adventure lovers.

Bheemeshwari is a place which is the perfect blend of nature and fun. The visitors can enjoy looking at the various species of animals and birds found here.

The Jungle Lodges at Bheemeshwari offer a number of exciting activities for the visitors such as rafting, coracle boat rides, rope climbing and more. Joy fishing and angling are some of the prominent activities here.

LAL BAGH, BANGALORE

Another popular picnic place of Karnataka is the very famous Lal Bagh Botanical Garden. The vast 240-acre garden houses at least 1,000 different species of plants. One can also find ancient trees which are more than 100 years old. Lal Bagh organises an annual flower show which is thronged by visitors from around the globe.
