Nestled between the hill ranges of Banasura, it is built across the tributary of Kabini River in Wayanad. Made of massive stacks of stones and boulders, Banasura Sagar dam has a set of islands in its reservoir. These islands with the backdrop of Banasura hills (part of Western Ghats) is definitely a feast to the pair of eyes.
The route to Banasura dam is quite uphill and many steps have to be climbed to reach the dam. A breathtaking landscape awaits you at the top and I bet you wouldn't regret the climb! The dam is set in lush green backdrop contrary to the blue on the opposite side of dam. There is also a small museum set-up that has birds and variety of fishes. The place also has old coin collections of India and pictures of some amusing facts of India.
