Morachi Chincholi is well-known for its tamarind trees and also for the numerous dancing peacocks seen throughout the town. The town is located close to the Ahmednagar-Pune Highway, which is around 55 km from Pune.

The place is alluring and entrenched in the rural aspect of Maharashtra and is seen as one of the most preferred trips from the nearby city of Pune. It is said that many tamarind trees were planted in the village during the rule of Peshwa dynasty, and these trees attracted the peafowls. At present, there are about 2500 peafowls in the region.

The peafowls can be seen moving around the fields throughout the day, the best time to catch them active is during the early mornings or during early evenings. With many resorts coming up, these structures have built up special viewing areas which allows one to watch the peafowls from a distance. If you try to get close to them it would startle them and they would simply fly away.

Morachi Chincholi is a year around destination and can be visited anytime during the year. However, most people prefer to come here during the months starting from June to December.

By Train: The nearest railway station to Morachi Chincholi is the Pune Junction, which is around 52 km from here. The station is well-connected to all the major towns and cities across the country and has regular trains to Mumbai and other cities.

By Road: One of the best options to reach Morachi Chincholi is by road. Since the place is well-connected by roads there are regular buses which operate from Pune, Mumbai and other major cities in the state. The total driving distance from Pune to here is around 55 km and 180 km from Mumbai.

Mayur Baug is the peacock sanctuary here, which offers free entry to its visitors. The sanctuary has close to 2500 birds. The sanctuary offers a day's excursion at a small amount of Rs. 500. One can enjoy bullock car rides, outdoor games along with camping and tent facilities that are provided.

The sanctuary also makes arrangements for puppet shows, magic shows along with a tour around the village. This would definitely be a refreshing experience considering the hustle and bustle of a city life. The sanctuary and its surroundings would give you a true feel of how a countryside in India would look like.

In the premises of the sanctuary, there is also a nursery which would take you to an extensive and diverse variety of plants and flowers. Once inside the nursery, you would be taken for a tour around it and would be given details about each and every plant species there along with how the organic fertilization works.
