Every Independence Day and Republic Day, Bangalore gears up to the much awaited flower show at the Lal Bagh Botonical Gardens. Situated in Southern Bangalore, Lal Bagh is one of the top tourist attractions in Bangalore. Every year the flower show gets bigger and better. This year, it is the 199th flower show on display at Lal Bagh. Nearly four lakh people are expected to participate in the exhibition. The main purpose of the flower show is to educate and make people aware of the variety of flora present in Lal Bagh. The Horticulture Department also encourages public to conserve and cultivate different kinds of plants through the show. In fact, this year, the Department has planned to hold workshops exclusively on terrace gardening to encourage a green environment in urban spaces.

DYK Tree Huggers Make Better Lovers?
The recent metro construction paved way to tree felling in Lal Bagh. It angered nature lovers in Bangalore that led to many protests against the Government of Karnataka. When you are in Lal Bagh, make sure you hug a tree, for tree huggers make better lovers and some opine, better humans as well.
