On September 27, 2024, World Tourism Day, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, announced the winners of the Best Tourism Villages Competition 2024. This competition aims to promote tourism in India's rural areas, showcasing villages that preserve and promote their cultural and natural heritage.
In its first edition in 2023, the competition saw an impressive 795 villages participating. This year, the second edition received 991 applications from 30 States and Union Territories, with 36 villages emerging as winners across eight different categories. Among the winners, one village, in particular, stood out in the Adventure Tourism category. Nestled in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir's scenic beauty, this village has become a haven for adventure enthusiasts, drawing visitors from all over India.
