India in Quotes...

Thousands visit India everyday and thousand others plan their trip to this land of diversities. It is truly a patriotic moment when Indians hear praises about their motherland in foreign tongue. Whether India is an "imagined community" or not; it sure is an experience unique from other encounters.

Historians call it to be the cultural capital of the world; linguisticians declare it to be the birthplace of all languages; poets transcend to a different dimension; bureaucrats marvel the rays of sun; literary persons commend the sheer beauty of its rich heritage; lyricists find the need to abandon words; architects forget what century they are in; lost travellers hear old intelligence spoken from the corners of a valley; scientists and physicists stand awed by the already existing answers of their life-long quests.

India is indeed a land of diversities. A land which makes space for all dreams to be dreamed. A land of philosophers and merchants, of princes and ascetics. A land which puts beauty in beautiful. It is the Dharma bhoomi which lost its shine in being called the karma bhoomi; but is somehow making a comeback in helping people manifest their dreams by redefining what karma or action actually is!

Nothing complex and nothing simple, India is a destination that has attracted people from all walks of life. When the famous American author Mark Twain visited India, it is said that the first words he penned were in block letters saying, 'INDIA THE MARVELLOUS'...

"So far as I am able to judge, nothing has been left undone, either by man or nature, to make India the most extraordinary country that the sun visits on his rounds. Nothing seems to have been forgotten, nothing overlooked."

Will Durant, India the Mother of All...

Will Durant, India the Mother of All...

"India was the motherland of our race, and Sanskrit the mother of Europe's languages: she was the mother of our philosophy; mother, through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics; mother, through the Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity; mother, through the village community, of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all."

Romain Rolland, India the Dreamland...

"If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India."

"There are some parts of the world that, once visited, get into your heart and won't go. For me, India is such a place. When I first visited, I was stunned by the richness of the land, by its lush beauty and exotic architecture, by its ability to overload the senses with the pure, concentrated intensity of its colours, smells, tastes, and sounds...I had been seeing the world in black & white and, when brought face-to-face with India, experienced everything re-rendered in brilliant technicolour."

Max Mueller, India the Universal...

Max Mueller, India the Universal...

"If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered over the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions of some of them which well deserve the attention even of those who have studied Plato and Kant, I should point to India. And if I were to ask myself from what literature we (...) may draw the corrective which is most wanted in order to make our inner life more perfect, more comprehensive, more universal, in fact more truly human a life...again I should point to India."
