'Bansera' stands out as the sole bamboo-themed park in the Delhi-NCR region. Spanning approximately 28 acres, this park is a testament to resilience and environmental sustainability. Following the devastation caused by a flood in the Yamuna River in 2021, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) took charge of redeveloping this green haven. The park's boundary and numerous decorative elements showcase the versatile use of bamboo, emphasizing its ecological benefits. With over 30,000 bamboo trees of 15 different species, 'Bansera' is not just a visual delight but also a significant oxygen emitter, contributing positively to the capital's air quality.
Eco-Friendly Features and Attractions
Among the park's innovative features is a moon replica, towering at the height of a two-storey building, visible from the historic Humayun's Tomb. This addition not only enhances the park's aesthetic but also bridges the gap between nature and historical landmarks. Solar lighting is another eco-conscious decision, ensuring the park remains illuminated post-sunset without additional electricity consumption. 'Bansera' is also home to three ponds, with one featuring a musical fountain courtesy of Delhi Metro (DMRC). The fountain offers visitors a mesmerizing display during its evening shows.
Visitor Information
Open daily from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm, 'Bansera' is accessible to all, with an entry fee of ₹50 for adults, while children below 10 years enjoy free admission. The park not only serves as a serene picnic spot for families and friends but also caters to educational visits, offering a practical learning experience for students. The musical fountain further adds to the park's appeal, with performances scheduled for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings, presenting a spectacle of water and light.
