Ever heard about the angriest airport? Yes, this is also a kind of rating based on the following factors mentioned in the article as you read forward. The "angriest" airport in the United States is John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, according to a recent Forbes ranking based on an analysis of tweets from travelers at major American airports.
Twitter data suggests that Orange County, California's John Wayne Airport is the airport in the US that upsets travellers the most. To reach that conclusion, Forbes Advisors examined more than 37,000 tweets sent between March 2022 and March 2023 at the 60 major airports in the United States.
Additionally, they employed a machine learning tool to assess the general state of each tweet and identify the traveler's annoyance hotspots. In 2022, the airport, now being the angriest received a total of 11.36 million passengers, according to data on its website.
The emotions stated in the tweets, such as joy, love, despair, wrath, fear, and wonder, were used to determine the grade level. The three most frequently used terms in unhappy airport tweets are "delays," "security," and "hours," according to the Forbes website. In 2023, aviation travel in the United States is at an all-time high. As a result, airports all around the nation are getting more crowded and chaotic.

The TSA concerns, staff, noise, and delays caused by the airport all contributed to its bad ratings despite being the location of Disneyland, one of the happiest places on earth. The second & third-placed airports placed after John Wayne Airport for the angriest airport rating are Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Nebraska, and Jacksonville International Airport in Jacksonville, Florida.
Not all airports experienced a fall in traveler satisfaction, though. According to this Forbes study, customers may gripe about the TSA, airlines, and even other travellers while also complaining about their experiences at the airport.
According to "Air Travel Consumer Report," the U.S. Department of Transportation identified the three airlines receiving the most consumer complaints as Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, & Jetblue Airways. The TSA received around 14,000 complaints as per studies.
In contrast, the survey found that passengers who flew through Indianapolis, Seattle-Tacoma, as well as Kansas City were less likely to tweet about any bad experiences which can contribute in them becoming one of the angriest airports in the USA. The Indianapolis airport has previously been recognized as North America's top airport by the Airports Council International.
