On a weekend, travelling from Bangalore to the nearby travel destinations is a wonderful experience as it gives a sense of relief and helps refresh ourselves after a busy week that's wrapped in deadlines. A road trip to Chikmagalur is one of the trips you can try this time. Though the direct route is just 245 km, let's take a longer and a much more interesting route that covers around 300 km on road and passes through some beautiful destinations on the way that include Mandya, Srirangapatna and Hassan. The Journey Begins at Bangalore!
Let's take the Mysore road and start our trip. Our first destination on the way is Ramanagaram, the place were the famous Bollywood film Sholay was shot.
Ramanagaram
Ramanagaram is also known as the Silk City as the famous Mysore silk sarees are woven from the silk from Ramanagaram. Ramanagaram is around 50 km from Bangalore city.
Some toy shopping at Channapatna
Channapatna is famous for the toys and other articles made of wood. Do stop by to shop a few things for your loved ones. Channapatna is around 12km from Ramanagaram, which hardly takes 15 minutes on road.

Head to Mandya
Mandya is located around 40 km from Channapatna. On the way, you pass by Maddur that's famous for Maddur vada, a snack special to this place. The Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is also in Mandya.

Visiting Hassan
If you travel further along the Bangalore-Mysore road, Mysore is around 18km away from Srirangapatna. If you have no time to visit the places in Mysore, take SH7 and the Mangalore-Bangalore highway to reach Hassan which is 110 km from Srirangapatna. The attractions in Hassan takes you to the glorious culture of the Hoysalas who reigned here.
Reaching Chikmagalur!
