A Road Trip Through Royal Rajasthan

Rajasthan is a state full of royalty and charm. The palaces, forts and the heritage buildings proclaim the rich history of Rajasthan. Taking a road trip through these beautiful cities would be a great experience to cherish for a lifetime.

Here is a travel plan to cover some of the best cities in Rajasthan on a road trip. We will be visiting Jaipur, Puskhar, Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer during this trip.

A long weekend should be chosen to travel on this route as we would be covering a distance of around 1030 km where the driving alone would take around 16 hours. Sightseeing is time-consuming, so it is always better to have some time in hand!

Let's start our trip from Jaipur, the pink city. The road to be taken is the Jaipur-Ajmer Expressway which is a 6 lane highway.

Reaching Pushkar from Jaipur will consume around 2 hours on road. It covers a distance of 145 km. Pushkar is a sacred city that should not be left unexplored. Here are the major attractions of the city.

Now let's visit Udaipur. From Pushkar, Udaipur is around 320 km when you take the NH79 and NH76 route. Though this route has toll gates, the journey would be comfortable compared to the other routes. Here's what you can see in the City of Lakes!

Kumbhalgarh

Have you visited the palace of clouds? Here are many palaces that you should be visiting on this trip. Kumbhalgarh is around 100 km from Udaipur and the roads to be taken are NH76, SH32 and NH162 Ext. It would take around 2 hours to reach the city and here are a few of the attractions to visit in Kumbhalgarh.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur

Here's a city where the houses are painted in blue, thus called a Blue City. A drive to Jodhpur would take around 3 hours from Kumbhalgarh when you take NH65. There are many places you can try exploring in this beautiful city.

Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer is called the Golden City as it has the charm of the golden deserts along with the palaces that are found everywhere in Rajasthan. You would be covering around 285 km taking NH114 and NH15. From Jodhpur, it takes slightly more than 4 hours to reach Jaisalmer. Here are the sightseeing options in Jaisalmer and here ends our road trip through royal Rajasthan!
