The Vantawng Falls is the highest waterfalls in the state of Mizoram. It is ranked 13th among the highest waterfalls in the country. It is a two-tiered waterfall that falls from a height of 229 meters. The waterfall is locally called the Vantawng Khawhthla and is very close to Thenzawl. It is 30 kilometres from Serchhip and 137 kilometres from Aizawl.
The waterfall is spectacular to say the least. The Vantawng Falls is located in the Vanva River. It is believed that the waterfall is named after Vantawng who was an excellent swimmer and could hover in the perilous water like a fish. It is said that during one of his dare devil acts, a log fell on top of him and killed him.
The tourism department has created a view tower close by and restricts people from going close to the fall. Tourists can book a cab from Thenzawl to reach the waterfalls.
