Travellers between Mumbai and Gujarat face disruptions as Western Railway executes a Non-Interlocking block at Valsad. The work commissions a new Electronic Interlocking system. It runs 10:00 Friday, August 21, to 3:30 pm Sunday, August 23, on both main lines. Expect cancellations, diversions, short terminations and delays; check NTES and 139 for status.
Key August 22 changes focus on the Mumbai–Surat–Valsad belt and northbound expresses. 12930 Vadodara–Valsad Intercity is short terminated at Bilimora; the Bilimora–Valsad stretch remains cancelled. 19012 Dahod–Valsad ends at Udhna, 20960 Vadnagar–Valsad at Navsari, and 59023 Mumbai Central–Valsad at Pardi. 19056 Udhna–Bandra Intercity and 20995 Ajmer–Bandra Superfast are fully cancelled today. Long-distance runners face regulation, including 22210 Nizamuddin–Mumbai Central Duronto, by up to two-and-a-half hours.

Western Railway Valsad NI block: timings and live status
Western Railway’s Mumbai Division pegs the core block 10:00 August 21 to 15:30 August 23. It covers both Up and Down main lines through Valsad station. Division added, “Passengers are requested to plan their journey accordingly,” and pointed to NTES and 139. Monitor NTES, dial 139, and track Western Railway’s updates for rolling adjustments through the window.
Western Railway Valsad NI block: Mumbai–Surat–Ahmedabad impact
Operations are ring-fenced south of Surat, with temporary terminals at Udhna, Navsari, Bilimora, Udvada and Pardi. If you must travel, target these nodes earlier, then continue by bus or taxi. Sunday, August 23, shows heavier turnbacks and select cancellations, especially for MEMU and Bandra services. Expect delay bands of 20–55 minutes on several long-haul trains crossing South Gujarat. Plan extra buffers and prefer earlier departures from Mumbai or Ahmedabad if options exist.
