Southern Railway has announced several summer special trains and extended some existing services to manage the extra rush of passengers during the holiday season.

Weekly Special Trains
A weekly special train will run between Trichy and Bengaluru on May 5, 12, 19, and 26. Train number 06007 will depart from Trichy at 6:15 am and reach Bengaluru at 1:45 pm. On the return journey, train number 06008 will leave Bengaluru at 3:00 pm and arrive in Trichy at 10:30 pm the same day. This service is expected to help passengers travelling between these two cities during the busy summer period.
Moreover, the weekly special trains running between Tambaram and Tuticorin have been extended. Train number 06018, which runs from Tuticorin to Tambaram, will continue operating on Mondays from May 4 to June 8. Similarly, train number 06017 from Tambaram to Tuticorin will run on Tuesdays from May 5 to June 9.
Changes in Train Timings
There has also been a change in the departure timing of the Tambaram-Tuticorin special train. It will now leave at 3:40 pm instead of its earlier time. Because of this adjustment, timings at intermediate stations like Chengalpet and Melmaruvathur have also been revised accordingly.
Why are the Changes Made?
These changes have been made to improve travel convenience and reduce crowding during the peak holiday season. With schools and colleges closed and more people travelling, the additional trains and extended services will help passengers get confirmed tickets more easily and ensure smoother journeys across these routes.
