Weather Update: India To See Rainfall And Thunderstorms Till July 8

The India Meteorological Department forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms across north and central India until July 8, affecting various states.

North and central India are set to experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning until July 8, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The indicates isolated heavy rainfall in regions including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh the first half of the week.

Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are also expected to see isolated heavy rainfall in the upcoming week. On July 5, isolated very heavy rainfall is anticipated in Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Bihar. Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh may witness similar conditions on July 5 and July 6. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy rainfall starting from July 6.

Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Various Regions

The IMD has predicted that Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience heavy rainfall on July 6. Assam and Meghalaya are expected to follow suit on July 6 and 7, while Odisha is likely to receive heavy rain on July 7. Particularly severe conditions are forecasted for Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya today with isolated extremely heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, several parts of Delhi experienced light to moderate rainfall on July 4. This brought much-needed relief from the recent sweltering humidity. A veil of clouds covered the city along with nearby areas like Noida and Ghaziabad. The national capital is likely to continue seeing light to moderate intermittent rainfall according to forecasts.

Rainfall Predictions for Southern States

The weather department has also predicted fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall in Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, and Gujarat State accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Interior Karnataka are likely to experience scattered light to moderate rainfall.

Tamil Nadu along with Puducherry & Karaikal will see isolated light to moderate rain during this period. Rayalaseema and Telangana should expect similar conditions as well.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa till July 6. Madhya Maharashtra will experience it from July 4-8 while Coastal Karnataka will see it till July 7. South Interior Karnataka is expected to have very heavy rain till July 7 too.

Forecast for Coastal Regions

Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam along with Telangana are predicted to have scattered light to moderate rain on July 7-8. Coastal Karnataka will see it on July 8 while South Interior Karnataka will have it on both July 5 and July 8.
