The new passenger train will run between Aunrihar and Dohrighat with stoppages at several stations, including Sadat, Jakhanian, Dullahapur, Mau, Indara, Kopaganj, Ghosi, Amila, and Muradpur. The service will operate with an eight-coach passenger train mainly meant for daily travellers.

Extension of Train Service

During the event, Vaishnaw announced that the train service would soon be extended up to Varanasi. This extension is expected to provide direct rail connectivity to one of the biggest cultural, religious, and business centres in the region.

How will the train service benefit Commuters?

The railway minister stated that the new train would benefit students, office commuters, traders, and pilgrims travelling regularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh. He added that better railway connectivity would also help tourism, local businesses, education, and employment opportunities in the area.

New Express Train to Connect Purvanchal with Delhi

Vaishnaw also announced plans for a new express train connecting Purvanchal with Delhi through the northern Ganga corridor. The proposed route is expected to connect important cities and towns such as Chhapra, Ballia, Mau, Azamgarh, Shahganj, Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, and Anand Vihar.

Speaking about railway development in Uttar Pradesh, the minister said the Indara-Dohrighat metre gauge railway line, originally built in 1904, had been converted into a broad gauge line after 2014. He added that railway projects worth nearly Rs 1.2 lakh crore are currently underway in the state. These projects include new railway lines, track doubling works, and major corridor development projects aimed at improving rail capacity and connectivity.

The new daily passenger train has been introduced to fulfil a long-pending demand for direct rail connectivity in the Mau and Ghazipur districts.
