According to the US government, the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for overseas travelers will be eliminated starting on May 11. This occurs on the same day as the COVID-19 public health emergency ends.
In an effort to improve worker productivity and individual health and safety, US President Joe Biden's administration initially imposed vaccination mandates for federal employees, contractors, and international air travelers.
The administration announced Covid-19 vaccination mandates in 2021 to advance individual health and safety, workplace effectiveness, and protection of vulnerable populations.
International air passengers, federal employees, and contractors will no longer need to comply with COVID vaccination requirements in order to enter the United States of America as of the next week. As per sources, additional information about ending these requirements will be made available in the coming days.
In order to stop the spread of recently discovered variants coming into the country and to give their medical system enough time to efficiently handle access to care in the case of an increase in cases and hospitalizations, they also implemented COVID vaccination requirements for particular international travelers.
According to the CDC, more than 270 million Americans, or just over 81 percent of the population, have gotten at least 1 dose of a COVID-19 vaccination. More than 83% of Canadians have received at least one vaccination shot.
While vaccination is still one of the most crucial tools for improving worker health and safety and workplace effectiveness, they are now transitioning to a different phase of responses when these precautions are no longer required.
According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 147 million Americans had received all of the COVID-19 vaccination as of today, 2nd May.
