An official release on Saturday, 7th January 2023 stated that the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will add more than 5,000 new buses to its fleet to make it easier for devotees to get to Prayagraj for the 2025 Maha Kumbh.

According to a government announcement, the new buses will cost around 2,000 crores and will run every 10 minutes across all routes. Prayagraj will host the Maha Kumbh. In 2025, the fair is anticipated to draw almost 40 crore devotees. Since 2019, Maha Kumbh has been in the planning process.

According to Uttar Pradesh's Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, Yogi Adityanath's orders have been followed to acquire new buses in time for the Maha Kumbh. The new buses will be gradually included in the UPSRTC fleet.

He explained that these brand-new vehicles would only be utilized to transport people to the Maha Kumbh. Sanjay Kumar, the MD of UPSRTC, announced that by March 2023, the organization would buy 1,575 buses. 1,200 buses will indeed be added to the UPSRTC network right away, and the remaining buses will be added in April and May.

The company will remove the old buses once the new ones are added. The UPSRTC fleet consists of 11,200 buses at this time.

Over 24 crore worshippers participated in the Maha Kumbh in 2019. While the government spent 4,200 crores on the Maha Kumbh in 2019, it has allocated 6,800 crores for the holy gathering in 2025, according to a press release.

About Kumbh Mela:

Kumbha Mela is a religious event that is observed four times over 12 years at four pilgrimage sites along four sacred rivers: Haridwar on the Ganges River, Ujjain on the Shipra River, Nashik on the Godavari River, and Prayagraj at the convergence of the Ganges, the Jamuna River, and the mythical Sarasvati.

The celebrations at each site are based on a unique constellation of Sun, Moon, and Jupiter astrological positions, with the holiest period happening at the precise moment when these constellations are entirely filled. Millions of pilgrims travel to Prayag just for the Kumbh Mela.

One of the biggest celebrations in the world, the Kumbh Mela draws more than 200 million visitors over the course of many weeks, including fifty million on the festival's holiest day.

The Kumbh Mela draws people from all facets of Hindu religious life, including sadhus, who practice extreme physical austerity or remain naked all year long, hermits, who come out of seclusion only for these pilgrimage sites, and even professors wearing silk who use the most up-to-date technology.
