Union Minister L Murugan will inaugurate the new train at Mettupalayam station on Friday. The train will depart Thoothukudi at 10.50 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Mettupalayam at 7.40 am the next day. It will leave Mettupalayam at 7.35 pm on Fridays and Sundays, reaching Thoothukudi at 4.20 am the following day.

New Train Services
The introduction of this train was proposed during the Indian Railways Time Table Committee 2022. This new service will pass through Coimbatore, Udumalaipettai, Palani, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, and Kovilpatti.
Additionally, three MEMU trains running between Coimbatore and Mettupalayam will extend to Podanur starting July 20. This extension aims to improve connectivity for passengers traveling along this route.
Additional Stoppages and Extensions
The Coimbatore - Tirupati Express will now stop at Samalpatti station between Jolarpettai and Salem junctions in both directions starting July 22. This change is expected to benefit passengers traveling to and from these areas.
The Mysuru - Mayiladuthurai Daily Express will extend its service to Cuddalore Port from July 19. The train arrives in Mayiladuthurai at 6.45 am, departs at 7 am, and reaches Cuddalore Port by 8.35 am with stops at Sirkazhi (7.23 am) and Chidambaram (7.41 am). On its return journey, it will leave Cuddalore Port at 3.40 pm, reaching Mayiladuthurai by 5.30 pm with stops at Chidambaram (4.07 pm) and Sirkazhi (4.23 pm).
Increased Frequency
The frequency of the Mayiladuthurai - Tiruchy Express will increase from five days a week to daily starting July 20. This change aims to provide more travel options for passengers commuting between these locations.
These changes reflect Indian Railways' commitment to improving connectivity and convenience for passengers across various regions.
