A technical glitch disrupted Mumbai Metro services on Friday in a Worli-bound train, causing delays and forcing passengers to evacuate at several stations. The train was heading to Acharya Atre Chowk on Mumbai Metro Line 3 when smoke was seen near Santacruz station, as it faced a mechanical problem, which

led to evacuation. It was later moved to Bandra-Kurla Complex. Officials stated the brakes got stuck, which caused friction in the wheels.
Metro Lines 2A & 7 Faced Technical Glitch
Meanwhile, Metro Lines 2A and 7 between Dahisar and Andheri also experienced technical faults later in the day, leading to 45 minutes of service delays. Commuters were inconvenienced, especially during the evening rush hour, and many stranded passengers complained about the lack of updates and transparency. The Metro operator, Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation (MMMOCL), acknowledged the problem and stated teams were working to fix it as soon as possible. Services resumed after about an hour. At Line 7, a train had to stop near the Akurli station, and all passengers aboard were asked to deboard for safety reasons.
This disruption arose just before the full opening of Line 3 to Cuffe Parade, which is expected to increase ridership. Moreover, Metro officials say the Aqua Line currently serves 52,000 commuters daily.
