To make summer travel easier and manage the heavy passenger rush, Indian Railways has decided to extend the services of several special trains on important routes.

Summer Special Trains
• According to an official update, the Charlapalli-Kharagpur Special train, 07679, will now run until July 29, 2026. Its return service, Kharagpur-Charlapalli Special with 07680, has been extended till July 30, 2026. This extension will help passengers travelling between Charlapalli and Kharagpur during the busy summer period.
• Similarly, the Charlapalli-Santragachi Special, 07699, will continue running until July 25, 2026, while the return train, Santragachi-Charlapalli Special 07700, will operate until July 26, 2026. These trains serve passengers travelling between Telangana and Santragachi, offering more options during peak travel demand.
Railway officials have confirmed that there will be no changes in the existing timings or stoppages of these trains, and passengers can continue to rely on the current schedules while planning their journeys.
Train Features
Each of these trains has 24 coaches, designed to accommodate different types of passengers. The composition includes two AC 2-tier coaches, eight AC 3-tier coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, and four general second-class coaches. Moreover, there are two luggage-cum-generator-cum-brake vans that also include facilities for Divyang (differently-abled) passengers.
Why is the Extension Beneficial?
The extension of these services is to reduce crowding and ensure smoother travel during the summer holidays, when demand for train tickets is usually very high. Passengers are advised to take note of these extended dates and plan their trips to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
