The Ramayana Trail, a new tourism initiative being developed by Sri Lanka, would highlight the nation's ties to the Ramayana, a Hindu epic. The route will highlight locations that are referenced in the Ramayana and include places that Lord Rama is thought to have visited while in exile.
The government of Sri Lanka has also declared that tourists will be able to use the Indian rupee while they are there. While it will be simpler for them to travel & spend money in Sri Lanka, this action is anticipated to draw more Indian tourists there.
Ramayana has an ancient connection with Sri Lanka and devotees of lord Rama often travel to Sri Lanka to worship and connect with lord Rama. The Ramayana is a historic Hindu epic that describes King Rama's quest to save his wife, Goddess Sita, from the demonic ruler Ravana.
The Ramayana Trail will highlight Sri Lanka's ties to the epic and feature places that are mentioned in it. These will include the Ashok Vatika, where Ravana kept Sita. Ravana Ella Falls is the next stop which is Twaterfall, in Ella town, is thought to be the location where Sita was hidden by Ravana following her kidnapping.
Additionally, the Seetha Amman Temple, which is thought to have been constructed at the location where Lord Rama first encountered Sita after her rescue, and the Divurumpola Temple, a temple close to the town of Bandarawela, are both believed to be the locations where Goddess Sita undertook a fire trial in order to prove her purity.
