Due to ongoing traffic congestion caused by the sudden collapse of Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur, the railways have introduced a special train service to help people travel across the Ganga River, which will run between Saraigarh under the Samastipur division of East Central Railway and Deoghar.

Special Train in Bihar to Start from 7 May
Samastipur divisional railway manager Jyoti Prakash Mishra said that the special train will operate daily from May 7 to May 31. The aim is to provide a dependable travel option for commuters and pilgrims, facing difficulties due to the breakdown of road connectivity across the river.
Special Train Timings & Major Stoppages
The train will depart from Saraigarh at 3:05 am and reach Deoghar at 11:20 am on the same day. For the return journey, it will depart from Deoghar at 11:35 am and arrive back at Saraigarh at 10:15 pm. The train will stop at several important stations along the route, including Supaul, Saharsa, Simri-Bakhtiyarpur, Mansi, Khagaria, Sabdalpur, Munger, Sultanganj, Bhagalpur, and Banka to help connect major towns affected by the bridge collapse and make travel easier.
How will this Service Help?
According to Saraswati Chandra, the new train service is expected to reduce travel difficulties and bring some relief to passengers. The railways are also planning additional arrangements, such as improved ticketing facilities and onboard services, to manage the increased number of travelers. As the collapse of Vikramshila Setu had completely stopped road traffic across the Ganga, affecting transport and supply systems, this special train is seen as an important temporary solution, helping people on both sides of the river continue their journeys.
