Southern Railway has announced the temporary addition of extra coaches to five Express trains to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. The move aims to provide more seats and improve travel convenience during the busy travel period.
Addition of Coaches to Five Express Trains
According to an official statement, the Nagercoil-Coimbatore Superfast Express (Train No. 22667/22668) will get one additional sleeper class coach. This extra coach will be available from August 1 to September 29 for trains departing from Nagercoil, and from July 31 to September 28 for trains leaving Coimbatore.
The Rameswaram-Tirupati Express (Train No. 16780/16779) will also have one extra AC three-tier coach. The additional coach will be attached from August 2 to September 29 on services originating from Rameswaram, and from August 3 to September 30 on trains departing from Tirupati.
Similarly, the Rameswaram-Kanniyakumari Superfast Express (Train No. 22621/22622) will receive one extra AC three-tier coach. It will be available from August 1 to September 28 for trains starting from Rameswaram, and from August 2 to September 29 for services originating from Kanniyakumari.
Southern Railway has also announced an additional chair car coach for the Chennai Central-Tirupati Saptagiri Express (Train No. 16057/16058). The extra coach will be available from August 1 to September 30 on trains departing from both Chennai Central and Tirupati.
