The month of Sawan 2024 has commenced, drawing devotees to the city of Mahadev. This period, spanning from 22 July to 19 August, sees a significant influx of pilgrims at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple. Both temples have implemented special measures to accommodate the devotees.
Special Arrangements at Kashi Vishwanath Temple
At Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kanwadis (pilgrims with water pots) must leave their Kanwads at a designated spot before entering the temple. They will join other devotees in the regular entry line. For Dak Bam pilgrims, special provisions allow them to enter without queuing. To manage the crowd, zig-zag barricades have been installed, and drinking water and ORS solutions are available. VIP and touch darshan are prohibited during Sawan, and every Monday, daily passes are canceled, and locker facilities are unavailable.
Mahakaleshwar Temple's Provisions for Devotees
In Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple, arrangements cater to devotees during Sawan and the first 15 days of Bhado. A temporary hospital within the temple premises offers immediate medical aid if necessary. Kanwariyas (pilgrims carrying Ganges water) can enter through Gate No. 4 on days other than Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with prior notice. Only registered devotees can attend the Bhasma Aarti, while separate provisions exist for VIPs and VVIPs. General devotees use different entry points for smooth darshan.
