Delhi Metro Launches Last-Mile Connectivity at 10 Stations Through Bharat Taxi Partnership Starting 31 January

From January 31, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will introduce new last-mile connectivity services from 10 selected metro stations with the help of a cooperative society. These services will include bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, and cabs, making it easier for passengers to travel between metro stations and nearby destinations. The

chosen stations are located near busy market areas such as Lajpat Nagar, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Nehru Place, and Millennium City Centre.

DMRC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Ltd (STCL), a multi-state cooperative society that runs the mobility platform Bharat Taxi. Bharat Taxi is an initiative supported by the Ministry of Cooperation and focuses on providing fair, transparent, and cooperative-based transport services.

Under this agreement, Sahkar Taxi will operate bike taxis, autos, and cabs using an aggregator or marketplace model. As part of the pilot project, dedicated bike taxi services will be launched at Millennium City Centre and Botanical Garden metro stations by January 31. DMRC will study passenger feedback, service efficiency, and operational feasibility before expanding the service to more stations.

How Will These Apps Help Commuters?

A major highlight of this initiative is its digital integration. The Bharat Taxi mobile app, available on both Android and iOS, will be linked with the DMRC Sarthi app. This integration will allow metro users to plan their entire journey in one place, from metro travel to last-mile transport. Passengers will be able to check available vehicles, view fare estimates, track rides, and complete their trips smoothly.

DMRC officials said the fares will remain competitive and affordable. Although higher charges may apply during peak hours, fare increases will be limited to protect passengers. Currently, last-mile services are available at 158 metro stations across Delhi-NCR, including e-auto services at 44 stations. So far, 1,445 e-autos have been deployed by Delhi Metro to support last-mile travel.
