Rajasthan has taken a remarkable step in boosting tourism by launching India's first luxury electric cruises on the picturesque Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer. This new e-cruise service, which started on a Friday, offers a luxurious and eco-friendly way to experience the beauty of this historic lake.
Introduction of the E-Cruise
The e-cruise service is owned by JP Dadhich and was developed by Goa-based Board Craft Private Limited, with a total investment of Rs 5 crore. One of the key highlights of this e-cruise is that it is made from fiber instead of heavy iron, which makes it lightweight and perfect for operating in shallow waters, as shallow as four feet. This innovative vessel is not only a first for India but is also designed to offer passengers a premium experience while preserving the environment.
The Design and Features
The luxury e-cruise is a double-decker boat measuring 22 meters in length. The lower deck is fully air-conditioned, offering passengers a cool and comfortable ride, especially during the hot months. The upper deck, on the other hand, provides an open-air seating arrangement with a dance floor, making it perfect for hosting private events such as birthday parties, DJ nights, or simply enjoying the scenic views of Ana Sagar Lake.
With a capacity to host up to 150 passengers, 75 on each deck, the e-cruise offers plenty of space for travelers to enjoy the luxurious experience. A special kitchen on board serves a variety of cuisines, including continental dishes, fast food, and fresh juices, ensuring that passengers can indulge in delicious meals while they cruise. Separate restrooms for men and women are also provided to enhance passenger comfort.

The e-cruises on Ana Sagar Lake are powered by batteries, making them environmentally friendly. In addition to being powered by electricity, there are plans to install solar panels on the boat to further boost its sustainability. It was built between 1135 and 1150 AD by Arnoraja, the grandfather of the famous Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan. The lake has since become a major attraction in Ajmer, known for its stunning views and serene atmosphere.
The Mughal emperors also left their mark on the lake. Emperor Jahangir built the Daulat Bagh gardens next to the lake, while Emperor Shah Jahan added five marble pavilions, known as Baradari, between the garden and the lake. The ticket prices for this luxury cruise have been set at INR 350 for adults and INR 250 for children.
