Vande Bharat Trains in Jammu & Kashmir
At present, two Vande Bharat trains operate between Jammu and Srinagar, offering a total of four services. These trains were first introduced on June 6, 2025, and initially operated between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar.
Later, from April 30, 2026, the services were extended to Jammu Tawi railway station. The two existing services operate as train numbers 26401/26402 and 26404/26403.
The demand for these trains has remained high since their launch. According to the Railways, both trains have been running with almost full occupancy. To handle the increasing number of passengers, the Railways also increased the number of coaches in each Vande Bharat train from 16 to 20.
Currently, the Vande Bharat trains on this route stop at Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Reasi and Banihal. The 269-km journey between Jammu and Srinagar takes around 4 hours and 45 minutes.
The third train is expected to increase capacity and make travel between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley more convenient for residents and tourists.
