Pune commuters will soon get much-needed traffic relief as one side of the Ganesh Khind Road flyover will be open for public use from May 1. This flyover, which runs from Bremen Chowk to E-Square, aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time for thousands of daily commuters. The full project, which extends towards Baner and Raj Bhavan, is expected to be completed by August. Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole shared this update in a press conference, highlighting the government's efforts to improve Pune's traffic situation.

Easing Traffic Woes in Pune
The Ganesh Khind Road flyover has been a long-awaited project, and its partial opening is expected to provide significant relief. Currently, heavy traffic in this area leads to long delays, especially during peak hours. Once fully operational, the flyover will help in reducing congestion and provide a smoother route for daily commuters, including office workers and students.
Shirole also mentioned that the project was carefully planned to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing traffic. The Bremen Chowk to E-Square stretch is particularly crucial as it connects several key areas, including educational institutions and commercial zones.
Improving Healthcare at Sassoon Hospital
Apart from infrastructure updates, healthcare improvements were also discussed during the press meet. MLA Shirole emphasized the need for administrative changes at Sassoon Hospital to improve the quality of medical services. The hospital, which serves thousands of patients daily, is expected to undergo reforms to enhance its efficiency.
One of the major announcements was increased financial support for patients suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Health Minister Prakash Abitkar confirmed that aid for GBS patients will now be increased to Rs 2 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. This move aims to provide better medical care for those affected by this rare neurological disorder.
Enhancing City Security with CCTV Policy
Another key issue addressed during the press meet was Pune's CCTV surveillance system. The city currently has around 10,000 CCTV cameras, managed by different agencies. However, many of these cameras suffer from maintenance and quality issues. To tackle this problem, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that a unified CCTV policy will soon be implemented.
This policy will help improve security and crime monitoring across the city. A well-maintained and centralized CCTV network is expected to assist law enforcement in handling emergencies and preventing criminal activities.
The partial opening of the Ganesh Khind Road flyover marks an important milestone in Pune's infrastructure development. Alongside, the increase in healthcare subsidies for GBS patients and the planned CCTV policy reflect the government's commitment to improving the quality of life for Pune's residents. These initiatives will bring positive changes in traffic management, healthcare, and security, making Pune a better place for everyone.
