To make metro travel easier and faster for passengers, the Pune Metro plans to hire a consultant to prepare a "feeder bus enhancement plan." The goal is to improve last-mile connectivity by ensuring better coordination between metro stations and feeder bus services. This move aims to make it simpler for

people to reach metro stations and continue their journey smoothly across the city.
Pune Metro Commuters Use Feeder Buses
Currently, about 30% of Pune Metro passengers use feeder buses run by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) to reach metro stations. These buses connect important stations on the Aqua Line between Vanaz and Ramwadi with nearby residential areas, offices, and IT parks.
Increase in Feeder Buses
Chandrashekhar Tambavekar, Pune Metro's director of administration and public relations, said that since only a small share of passengers depend on feeder buses, a consultant will be appointed to study the current routes and suggest improvements. The consultant will also explore adding new routes, adjusting existing ones, and including other transport options like autorickshaws to make travel more convenient. At present, PMPML runs 38 feeder buses on different metro routes. Around 60% of these routes are performing well, while others have fewer passengers. According to Satish Gavane, PMPML depot manager, the number of feeder buses may increase based on future demand from Pune Metro.
Five Main Feeder Buses on the Aqua Line
• Vanaz to Bavdhan
• Deccan Gymkhana to Warje-Malwadi
• Yerawada to Lohegaon Airport
• Yerawada to Commerzone IT Park
• Ramwadi to WTC and EON IT Park, Kharadi
Buses are available every 25 to 50 minutes, depending on the route. Officials hope that with the new plan, more people will use feeder services for a smoother, well-connected metro travel experience in Pune.
