In a unique act of devotion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a scuba diving venture off the Panchkui beach coast in Gujarat's Devbhumi Dwarka on Sunday. The Prime Minister dived into the sea to perform prayers at the ancient, submerged city of Dwarka, believed to be the dwelling of Lord Krishna. Describing the experience as "very divine," PM Modi, adorned in a white diving helmet and ochre robes, was seen engrossed in prayer on the seabed, assisted by Navy divers.
Scuba diving near Beyt Dwarka island offers an exceptional glimpse into the underwater remains of ancient Dwarka, a site of significant archaeological and spiritual interest. PM Modi's dive was not just an act of faith but also a symbolic gesture connecting India's storied past with its ambitious vision for the 21st century. "More than courage, it was faith," Modi remarked upon surfacing, underscoring his spiritual journey beneath the waves.

Addressing a gathering later in the day, PM Modi shared reflections on his underwater experience, expressing how it reaffirmed his commitment to India's development. "The vision of Dwarka in the sea has further strengthened my resolve of a developed India," he stated.
Prime Minister Modi also took to social media to convey his emotions, stating, "To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience. PM Modi's voyage to the sea bed of Dwarka was the culmination of a long-held dream, an endeavor to physically and spiritually connect with the ancient city. "My wish of many years was fulfilled today. I am thrilled, overwhelmed with emotions," he shared with the audience, detailing his deep-seated curiosity about the sunken city, revered in both historical and scriptural accounts.
The Prime Minister's visit also included prayers at the Lord Sri Krishna temple in Dwarka, further underscoring the spiritual significance of his journey. Additionally, earlier in the day, he inaugurated the 'Sudarshan Setu', marking another milestone with the country's longest cable-stayed bridge of 2.32 km over the Arabian Sea, enhancing connectivity to Beyt Dwarka island.
Alongside the bridge inauguration, PM Modi initiated and laid the groundwork for projects worth Rs 4,100 crore across the districts of Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar, demonstrating a continued commitment to the region's development and prosperity.
