Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off the new Podanur-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express through video conferencing from Tiruchirappalli. The launch is part of a broader initiative by Indian Railways to improve long-distance connectivity across regions of the country.

New Amrit Bharat Train from Podanur to Dhanbad
The new train service will operate between Podanur near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Dhanbad in Jharkhand. This route connects the textile and industrial hub of southern India with the mineral-rich coal and steel region of eastern India. The direct rail link is expected to make travel easier for workers, traders, and students who frequently move between these areas.
The launch of this train was part of a larger event in which the Prime Minister flagged off five new railway services. These included two Amrit Bharat Express trains, two regular express trains, and one passenger train. The move aims to strengthen rail connectivity across several states, such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
Improved Facilities of Amrit Bharat Express
The Podanur-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express has been designed to offer improved travel facilities for passengers. The train has modern features such as ergonomic seating, mobile charging points, and enhanced safety systems. These upgrades are intended to make long-distance journeys more comfortable and convenient.
How will it Benefit Commuters?
Officials say the new service will benefit thousands of passengers, especially migrant workers travelling between the industrial zones of Tamil Nadu and the mining belt of Jharkhand. It will also help improve economic and social connections between the southern and eastern parts of India.
Moreover, the launch of the Podanur-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express is expected to strengthen railway connectivity and provide a faster, more comfortable travel option for people travelling across these regions.
