Newly Finished Section

Officials said that the newly finished section will soon be inspected by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). During this inspection, safety systems, tracks, and other technical features will be checked carefully. If the CMRS suggests any changes or improvements, they will be completed quickly. After this process, the authorities are expected to announce the official inauguration date.

Progress of the Project

The progress of the project was reviewed on January 12 at a high-level meeting led by Sandeep Kumar R Pudkalkatti, who is the Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department and the Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL). Senior officials from PMRCL and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) attended the meeting.

During the review, officials discussed ways to speed up work on the remaining stations while ensuring that safety and quality standards are strictly followed. Special attention was given to Khemnichak and Malahi Pakri stations, which are the last two stations on the elevated priority corridor of Corridor-II. This corridor connects Patna Junction with the New ISBT.

Project teams were asked to work more efficiently and improve coordination so the stations can be completed on time. Authorities are aiming to finish and open the elevated section by February.

So far, around 95% of the work on the priority corridor has been completed. Final finishing work and technical installations are currently in progress.

Blue Line Underground Metro

Meanwhile, work on the underground Blue Line is also moving forward. Several tunnel boring machines are being used to build the tunnels. The 7.9-km underground stretch, which will connect major areas such as Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Once finished, it will form a 14-km north-south metro corridor, making travel across the city easier and faster.
