The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) is preparing to open Phase 2B of Metro Line 3, which will run underground from Worli to Cuffe Parade. However, operations can only begin after the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) approval is obtained, as this clearance is necessary to ensure passenger

safety before the line is opened to the public.
Completion of Mumbai Metro Line 3 Trial Runs Awaits CMRS Approval
Recently, a team from CMRS visited the stretch to conduct inspections and check critical systems, including track alignment, signaling, power supply, and emergency measures. Officials explained that this was an advance inspection before the final review, which is expected soon. According to an MMRCL official, safety is the top concern, and successful trial runs on this section have been completed, now awaiting CMRS's approval to declare that all systems are ready for use.
Mumbai Metro Line 3 Route Connections
Metro Line 3, one of Mumbai's projects, covers a total distance of 33.5 km, stretching from Cuffe Parade to Aarey, and is being launched in stages. The first part, from Aarey to BKC, was inaugurated in October 2024, and the latter part of the line, which extended from BKC to Acharya Atre Chowk, was inaugurated in May 2025. Now, Phase 2B will further expand its services by connecting South Mumbai's busy business district with residential and commercial areas, reducing traffic pressure along the Worli-Cuffe Parade route, and saving significant travel time for daily commuters.
Once approved by CMRS, thousands of passengers will benefit from faster, safer, and more comfortable travel. With each new phase, Metro Line 3 is bringing Mumbai closer to a modern and reliable urban transport system.
