Planning a vacation to Indonesia? Are you aware of the updated rule where Indonesia, a popular tourist destination renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality, has recently decided to halt visa-free entry for 159 countries, including India?
Only below nations from the "Association of Southeast Asian Nations" (ASEAN) are exempt from the visa requirement:
- Brunei
- Cambodia
- Laos
- Malaysia
- Myanmar
- The Philippines
- Singapore
- Thailand
- Timor Leste, and
- Vietnam
As long as they have a valid passport and a confirmed flight out of Indonesia, visitors from the aforementioned nations are permitted to stay there for up to 30 days. It is to be noted that the officials did not confirm how long the new free visa halt will last.
One can apply for an Electronic Visa on Arrival, a Visit Visa, or a Limited Stay Visa if they want to extend their stay in Indonesia.
According to the Bali Times, the Indonesian Ministry of Law & Human Rights issued an order to stop visa-free entry on Monday, 19th June 2023. In order to address worries about public order disruptions including the risk of disease transmission from nations that aren't WHO-certified as disease-free, this suspension has been implemented.
The Covid-19 epidemic rendered the prior visa-free rules unenforceable, even though Indonesia had previously designated 169 nations as visa-free in which India was included. Travellers visiting Indonesia were given an option to of visa arrival option during the pandemic implemented in 2021.
