to cross 400 km, making it one of the largest metro systems in the country.

Approval of Three Corridors

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared details of the decision with the media. He said the three approved corridors are R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Airport Terminal 1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. Along with these corridors, 13 new metro stations will also be built to improve connectivity for daily commuters.

R.K. Ashram Marg-Indraprastha Corridor

The R.K. Ashram Marg-Indraprastha corridor will play an important role in improving access to the redeveloping Central Vista area. This stretch is expected to benefit around 60,000 office workers and nearly two lakh visitors who travel to the area every day. Better metro access will help reduce traffic congestion and make travel smoother for people working and visiting government offices.

Aerocity -Airport & Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj Corridors

The Aerocity-Airport Terminal 1 and Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj corridors will improve metro connectivity between the airport and the southern parts of Delhi. Areas such as Saket and Kalindi Kunj will get better and faster access to the airport, which will be especially helpful for travellers and daily commuters.

How Will the Metro Corridors Benefit Commuters?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that expanding the metro network will improve the 'Ease of Living' for people. He added that better public transport will help reduce road congestion, save travel time, and support economic growth in the city.

At present, the Delhi Metro is operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). It runs nearly 395 km across 12 lines with 289 stations. On average, about 6.5 million passenger journeys are made on the Delhi Metro every day. With the new corridors, the network is expected to become even more efficient and commuter-friendly.App
