Tata Women's Premier League: Know Delhi's Traffic Advisories

From March 5-17, the Tata Women's Premier League at Arun Jaitley Stadium will lead to significant traffic and parking alterations in key areas of New Delhi.

New Delhi is set to witness the much-anticipated Tata Women's Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, resulting in traffic modifications and parking restrictions from March 5 to March 17. The event, expected to draw large crowds, will see congestion in key areas such as ITO, Rajghat, Delhi Gate, Turkman Gate, and Kamla Market. This article outlines the logistical changes that spectators and residents should anticipate during the tournament period.

Traffic Diversions and Parking Restrictions

Authorities have announced traffic restrictions on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg (BSZ Marg) and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (JLN Marg) to facilitate the smooth conduct of the cricket league. These measures are designed to manage the increased flow of vehicles and ensure safety. With matches scheduled to cause substantial congestion in nearby regions, spectators and those traveling through the area are advised to plan their movements accordingly.

Parking will be significantly affected, with restrictions implemented near BSZ Marg, JLN Marg, and Rajghat. The police have stated, "Due to limited space, only vehicles with valid labels can be parked in the vicinity of the stadium." This leaves others to seek alternative parking at designated areas such as Mata Sundari Marg, Shanti Van, and on Velodrome Road. Additionally, a special 'park and ride' facility has been arranged by the traffic police to ease the situation. This service will commence two hours before each match and resume for an hour after the match begins and concludes.

Stadium Entry Points and Alternatives

For those attending the matches, entry through stadium gate numbers 1-7 will be accessible from BSZ Marg, while gates 8-15 can be approached from JLN Marg, adjacent to the Ambedkar Stadium bus terminal. Gates 16-18 near the petrol pump on BSZ Marg will also be open for spectators. It's crucial for attendees to note these entry points to avoid inconvenience.

For app-based cabs and taxis, a specific instruction has been issued to utilize the service lane on Ring Road between the IP flyover and Rajghat, aiming to streamline traffic and reduce disruptions.

Other Traffic Updates

Recent traffic developments in the region have also seen the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) implementing traffic restrictions at the B2B crossing and diverting it to JLN Marg. This is alongside the completion of an underpass construction that connects Jawahar Circle to ISKCON Road, with its inauguration date pending. These changes are part of a broader effort to manage traffic flow and enhance mobility in the area.

In Nagpur, improvements have been made for app-based cab services at the railway station, following a campaign against the auto mafia. This has allowed for a more efficient pick-up system, reducing inconvenience for passengers.

Infrastructure Developments Near Stadiums

With the upcoming IPL matches in mind, Punjab's chief secretary Anurag Verma has directed officers to expedite development works near the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium. The focus is on completing engineering and civil works, with collaboration between PUDA, GMADA, and the Punjab Cricket Association. The Punjab government is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure to support sports events, ensuring they proceed smoothly and successfully.

As New Delhi prepares to host the Tata Women's Premier League, the city's traffic and parking arrangements undergo significant adjustments. Spectators and residents are advised to stay informed about these changes to navigate the city efficiently during the tournament. With the authorities and government agencies working together, the aim is to ensure a memorable and hassle-free experience for all involved.
