Starting from June 1, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will offer a better and more comfortable travel experience for Mumbaikars by launching air-conditioned (AC) buses on many city routes. Along with these AC services, several route changes and cancellations will be made in South Mumbai and both eastern and western suburbs. This move is part of BEST's plan to improve public transport for daily commuters.
New AC Bus Services Begin
BEST has decided to replace some non-AC buses with AC buses on specific routes. One of the first changes will be seen on the current Bus Route No. 8 between Mantralaya and Shivaji Nagar Terminus. This route will now be known as 'A-8' and will only have AC buses. The first bus will leave Mantralaya at 8:05 a.m. and the last one will depart at 10:50 p.m., offering long service hours for passengers.
Changes in Routes for Better Travel
Many routes have been revised to make commuting easier:
Route 44 will now run between Kalachowki and Worli.
Route 56 will offer AC buses on Sundays from Worli depot to Versova Yari Road. On weekdays, it will run with non-AC buses.
Route 125 will now connect Navy Nagar to Worli depot with AC buses.
Route 241 will run between Santacruz and Malvani, changing from its earlier route from Mahim to Malvani depot.
Route A-25, earlier from Kurla Depot to Backbay, will now stop at Sion.
More AC Routes Across the City
To improve city-wide connectivity, BEST is introducing the following new AC routes:
Route 243: Malad Station (West) to Jankalyan Nagar
Route 343: Goregaon Station (East) to Film City
Route 344: Goregaon Bus Station (East) to Sankalp Society/Nagari Nivara Prakalp-4
Route 347: Goregaon Bus Station (East) to Gokuldham
Route 452: Goregaon Bus Station (East) to Mayur Nagar
Route 459: Mulund Railway Station to Malvani Depot
Route 602: Kanjur Marg to Hiranandani Powai
Route 626: Malad Station (West) to Bhujale Talao
Special New Routes for Wider Coverage
Two new AC routes will offer more convenience:
Route A-490: From Mantralaya to Thane Balkum
Ring route A-175: Covers Pratiksha Nagar, Antop Hill, Wadala, Khodadad Circle, and Portuguese Church
These routes aim to cover major areas in the city and reduce travel stress.
Fare Changes for AC Services
BEST has also updated its fare structure with these changes. Commuters are advised to check the new ticket rates before planning their travel. These changes will help BEST maintain the quality of services and ensure smoother travel.
With the addition of AC buses and better routes, BEST is taking a big step to make Mumbai's public transport more comfortable, efficient, and reliable for everyone.
