Bookings open today, August 29, for new Ganpati weekend special trains on the Mumbai–Goa corridor. Central Railway will run train 01007 and 01008 between Mumbai CSMT and Madgaon on September 11 and 13. Services are notified as Train on Demand, with reservations on IRCTC and PRS counters. Expect quick sell‑outs on popular dates, especially Friday night and Sunday departures.
Timings are targeted at weekend travellers. Train 01007 departs CSMT at 00:40 on September 11 and 13, reaching Madgaon at 15:30 the same day. Train 01008 leaves Madgaon at 16:30 on the same dates, arriving CSMT at 08:15 next morning. Halts include Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim and Karmali. The rake has 22 coaches, including 12 Sleeper and two AC 3‑tier.

Reservations for 01007 open today at PRS counters and on IRCTC; unreserved seats are available via the UTS app for designated coaches. Other Konkan Railway festival specials opened in phased windows on August 1–3, so remaining seats may be scattered across dates. Set seat‑availability alerts and try intermediate halts to improve confirmation odds.
Mumbai–Goa alternatives and major stoppages
Couldn’t secure a weekend berth? Consider LTT–Madgaon AC specials 01165 and 01166 on September 15 and 22, or daily CSMT–Sawantwadi services 01151 and 01152 from September 11 to 27. These cover core Konkan halts—Panvel, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal and Zarap—useful for Goa road transfers. Always verify live timings on NTES before travel.
