The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has announced fare concessions for college and degree students travelling on Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line). The decision has been taken to make daily commuting more affordable for students who travel across Mumbai for their higher education.

Mumbai Metro's New Scheme
Under the new scheme, eligible college and degree students can purchase discounted monthly travel passes for the Aqua Line. These passes will help reduce transportation costs for students who regularly use the metro to travel between their homes and educational institutions.
Mumbai Metro Aqua Line
Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is Mumbai's first fully underground metro corridor. It connects Aarey in the north to Cuffe Parade in south Mumbai and passes through several important residential, educational, and business areas. The line already offers discounted passes to school students, persons with disabilities, and regular commuters. With the latest announcement, students pursuing higher education have also been included in the concession programme.
How to Avail this Opportunity?
According to MMRC, students can obtain the discounted passes through the MetroConnect3 platform and the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) system. These digital platforms will make it easier for passengers to buy and use their travel passes while promoting cashless and contactless ticketing.
How will this Initiative Benefit Passengers?
Officials said the scheme has been introduced to support students who depend on public transport for their daily commute. Since the Aqua Line connects several important educational institutions and commercial centres, thousands of college and university students are expected to benefit from the concession.
The initiative is also part of MMRC's efforts to encourage more people to use public transport. By making metro travel cheaper and more convenient, the corporation hopes to increase ridership on the Aqua Line while helping students save money on their daily journeys.
The new concession is expected to provide significant financial relief to students and make travelling across Mumbai faster, easier, and more economical.
