The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has demanded more train services connecting Mangaluru with different parts of North Karnataka. The organisation said the existing railway services are inadequate to meet the growing passenger needs and that better connectivity is necessary to make travel between the coastal region and northern parts of the state easier.
Mangaluru Trains Demanded by DYFI
According to DYFI, thousands of people travel between Mangaluru and North Karnataka for work, education, business, healthcare and other purposes. However, limited train services have created difficulties for passengers, particularly those who depend on railways for regular and affordable travel.
The organisation has urged railway authorities to introduce additional trains on routes connecting Mangaluru with important destinations in North Karnataka. It has also called for improvements to existing services so that passengers have more choices and can travel at convenient times.
How would these Trains Benefit Passengers?
DYFI said increasing the number of trains would help address the rising demand for rail travel and provide relief to passengers who currently face difficulties because of limited services. More trains could also reduce pressure on other forms of transport, including buses and private vehicles.
Improved railway connectivity would be particularly useful for students and workers who frequently travel between Mangaluru and North Karnataka. Mangaluru is an important coastal centre with strong links to other parts of Karnataka. Better rail services to North Karnataka could strengthen these connections and support economic and social activities between the two regions. It could also make it easier for families to visit relatives and for people to travel for medical treatment and other essential purposes.
DYFI has therefore appealed to railway authorities to consider passenger demand while planning future services. The organisation believes that additional trains and better scheduling would make journeys more convenient, affordable and reliable.
