Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved a new MEMU passenger train service between Delhi and Faridabad, according to an announcement made by Rekha Gupta on Friday. Rekha Gupta thanked Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the new service. She said the train will provide major relief to thousands of

people who travel daily between Delhi and Faridabad for jobs, education, business, and other purposes.
MEMU Trains
MEMU, which stands for Mainline Electric Multiple Unit, is a self-powered electric train used by the Indian Railways for short and medium-distance journeys on main railway routes. Unlike regular trains, MEMU trains do not need a separate engine because power is supplied through different coaches of the train itself. This helps the train operate more efficiently and is useful for daily commuters travelling short distances.
How will the MEMU Train between Delhi & Faridabad Benefit Passengers?
According to Gupta, people living in Faridabad and nearby areas have been demanding better railway connectivity for a long time. Many commuters face overcrowding and delays while using existing transport services, especially during peak hours. The new MEMU train service is expected to improve travel for passengers by providing a faster, more comfortable, and more affordable option.
She also said the train service would help reduce pressure on roads between Delhi and Faridabad. Heavy traffic congestion is common on these routes, especially during office hours, and the new rail service is likely to encourage more people to use public transport instead of private vehicles.
Officials believe the MEMU service will strengthen daily connectivity between the two cities and make travel easier for office workers, students, and regular passengers. The train is also expected to improve local transport infrastructure and support the growing number of commuters travelling between Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region areas.
