Manali now has become a place to ban camping without permission. Now the scenario of camping in Manali has been changed completely as you cannot put up or stay in an illegal tent. So, now whenever you visit Manali for camoing just make sure you have permission and your tent is legal. The district administration, in a bid to curb illegal construction and encroachment in the state's tourist hotspot, has banned camping without permission and removed all such constructions. For this, a dedicated team has been assigned to check all the points, especially the entrance of all trekking routes, and remove all illegal setups. The first checkpoint will be established on Hamta Pass Trek to control trekking and camping because this is one of the most famed and busiest treks in Himachal Pradesh.

Surender Thakur, Manali's sub-divisional magistrate said that there are several complaints about illegal and permanent camping in forest regions. Hence, a meeting was held in Manali, Himachal Pradesh to talk about illegal camping in the region and it was decided that all such camps will be removed.

Mr. Thakur further added, "These campsites are littering areas and also polluting water sources. Strict action will be taken to stop this activity".
