Stretching nearly 130 km, the cruise promises to be a captivating journey from the spiritual haven of Omkareshwar, home to the Statue of Oneness, to the grandeur of the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Both statues, standing proudly on the banks of the Narmada, add cultural and historical significance to the cruise, making it a must-experience for tourists seeking a blend of spirituality and architectural marvels.
Rural Gems and Intra-State Adventures: A Multi-Dimensional Cruise
Breaking away from the conventional, the inter-state cruise is designed to offer more than just a river journey. Plans are underway to link Rajhat Dam near Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh to Deogarh in Uttar Pradesh, creating an enchanting route that showcases the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Within the state, intra-state cruises are also in the pipeline, each with its unique charm. From Maikal Resort in Bargi near Jabalpur to Tindini in Mandla district, Dharaji in Dewas to Sailani Tapu east of Omkareshwar, to the scenic route from Sanjit village to the tent city of Gandhi Sagar, Madhya Pradesh is gearing up to offer diverse and immersive river experiences.
Revitalizing Tawa-Madhai Cruise and New Trekking Trails
As part of the 2024 tourism strategy, the Tawa-Madhai cruise is slated for a facelift, promising an enhanced and rejuvenated experience for tourists. The focus extends beyond river cruises, with plans to identify and develop new trekking trails in the buffer zones of National Parks and Sanctuaries. Adventure enthusiasts can soon explore untrodden paths and connect with the rich biodiversity that Madhya Pradesh has to offer.
Queens on the Wheel: A Biking Extravaganza
Adding a touch of adventure and empowerment, a special event titled "The Queens on the Wheel" is scheduled for February 2024. This all-women seven-day biking event will take participants on a thrilling ride from Bhopal to Orchha and back. It not only promotes adventure tourism but also celebrates the spirit of women riders, providing a unique and empowering experience.
Enhancing Connectivity and Wellness Retreats
In a bid to enhance connectivity between various destinations, the tourism department is working towards reintroducing small aircraft on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This initiative aims to make travel more accessible and convenient for tourists. Additionally, the state plans to establish 12 wellness retreats in select hotels operated by Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, creating spaces for relaxation and rejuvenation.
